So glad that places have opened in time for B and I to have a couple of trips out together before her baby brother or sister comes!
We went to Marsh Farm as it’s not too far from us, we had a lovely day though not going to lie I was next level knackered after waddling around all day!
B loved seeing the animals especially the chickens, little train ride & getting mini chocolate eggs the best ha!
It was a lovely Easter themed event even with restrictions.
So I’ll admit I’m not in the category of can’t wait to potty train your toddler mums – I’ve been finding any excuse to put it off!
We’ve had a potty toilet for several months to make her aware of it and spoke about doing wees and poos in it to introduce the idea in a no pressure way.
I definitely wasn’t in a rush at all to ditch the nappies and was planning to wait until summer.
Fortunately or unfortunately B took matters in to her own hands and decided she didn’t want to wear clothes and was really good at going to the potty instead of in her nappy.
So we just did this for a few days then I bought her some of her fave frozen knickers, we were also sent some potty training pants from @bambinomio that hold a small amount of wees great for wearing out & about.
She seems to have pretty much cracked wearing knickers although have had the odd accident and we have to completely take off any bottoms.
Now with the weather being nice we are hoping to get out for longer so u have got a travel potty that I will ask her if she needs to go every so often.
I went for one that can be a toilet seat and that has the bags too, to make them a potty as they are quite compact and like the idea that I’m covering 2 options.
Ive also bought a car seat mat just incase she forgets & has a little accident in the car.
Obviously every child is different but here are some tips I would say to anyone that is contemplating potty training.
Introduce slowly don’t just announce one day that your potty training
Get pants and knickers they want to wear eg let them pick or chose ones with their fave characters on
You can never praise enough even if they just sit on the potty, some people find that giving a little reward sticker or treat can help get them to go and into the routine of using the potty. B has been fine with just us cheering but I wouldn’t not have given her treats.
Don’t make a big thing of any accidents.
Buy lots of knickers and be prepared for lots of washing!! As I said we started off with no bottoms but aimed to get her in knickers as quick as poss so she could feel the sensation.
Blowing bubbles on the potty can help with getting them to go no2s
Make sure they are drinking plenty to help feel the bladder full and empty.
Be consistent so if you do go out don’t put a nappy on as it can cause confusion, the potty training pants have been so helpful as they are absorbent compared to knickers
So jokes aside I don’t really hate everyone but wow finding baby names is hard.
I literally don’t feel like we have any options yet and I’m aiming to think of 2 boy and girl options as I’ve not found out the babies gender!
Can’t believe I’m 28 weeks already and no closer to ideas ha though was the same with B!
Think it’s so hard to find a more unique name that fits in that someone you know hasn’t chosen?
Think as a parent you feel a huge responsibility as that will be the name for the rest of their life so want to give them one they will be happy with.
Having worked in childcare many years also has added to the difficulty as firstly has made me more aware of lots of others with names we have been coming up with, you just can’t help but relate names to children you know and I know as with Beatrix I wanted to try and find something unique from them.
