Santorini with kids
Okay so I will admit when we were invited there for a wedding I didn’t really put kids and Santorini as a combo!
We was pleasantly surprised and actually found it a lovely family holiday destination
Our experience is mainly based on the kamari area I can’t speak for the whole island
Buggy wise most is pretty pram friendly we had a cabin pram, which was handy to fold up in restaurants or lift up stairs etc but it did struggle on some bits of road when there wasn’t paths.
The beaches near where we was stony and some of the sea is a little rough the kids were happy though and enjoyed drawing on rocks and making a shop! Most restaurants you could use the loungers for free if you buy drinks.
Our hotel was fine it didn’t have a bath which I did miss a lot for Bo as he’s not a shower fan, the room had bunk beds so not great for Bos age although I think there was travel cot options but obviously I can’t speak for all hotels.
Restaurants every one we went to had high chairs which was so handy! There wasn’t a lot of kids menus but you could have child sized portions.
We did take the kids on a boat trip excursion a daytime one which was fine lots for them to see, they could get off and swim, there was life jackets, had lunch but I wouldn’t recommend the sunset as the kids would definitely be bored.
Shop wise I didn’t find any that had baby supplies bar one that had some size 3 nappies so be prepared and pack extra stuff like nappies, wipes, baby food, dummies, bottles!!
There wasn’t a great deal at the airport for kids it’s pretty small – not the best with delays they did have baby changing!
Overall Santorini really surprised me I was apprehensive of it being a couples romantic getaway kind of location but as a family we had a lovely time. I’m not sure we would have gone had we not had a wedding to go to and feel like it’s one of those places you are glad you have been but there’s others id go to rather than return !!
